Car shelter takedown: get ready for spring and next winter

Spring is coming and you’re ready to have your driveway back. Book your shelter takedown ahead of your municipality’s deadline, then have the cover dry and access cleared for the crew. A little preparation saves a last-minute scramble.

At iNTEMPERY, you can book single-shelter takedown or double-shelter takedown. Let us handle this step so you can move on with spring and get ready for next season.

The right date depends on your address

Don’t use the neighbour’s shelter as your calendar. Check the removal deadline with your municipality or borough, including whether it applies to both the cover and frame. Requirements may differ between areas.

Our takedown season takes place in spring. Your visit is arranged with the team according to your area, conditions and availability. Booking ahead gives you more time to organize removal within the permitted period.

How does booking work?

Choose the service that matches your shelter. After purchase, our team contacts you within two business days to arrange the visit. That is the contact timeframe, not a promise to dismantle the shelter within 48 hours.

You do not need to be present, but access instructions must be clear. For an industrial shelter or custom dimensions, contact us for an assessment.

Three things to prepare before we arrive

  • A dry cover, free of debris. Check it before the appointment. If its condition prevents the work, the visit will be rescheduled and travel charges may apply, as stated on our service pages.
  • Clear space around the shelter. Move vehicles and anything obstructing access.
  • The details the crew needs. Provide the shelter type, dimensions and any access restrictions. Confirm where the parts will go after takedown.

Inspect the cover before putting it away

A loose seam or tear is easier to deal with before fall arrives. Beneva recommends inspecting the cover and arranging any repairs before next season.

CAA-Québec recommends gentle cleaning with mild soap, followed by rinsing and complete drying. Follow the care instructions for your particular cover as well. Folding it while damp just to finish sooner is not a good way to end the season.

Make next fall’s assembly easier

Store the clean, dry cover somewhere ventilated and protected from moisture and sunlight. Protect the frame components from the weather, too.

A practical tip: keep hardware together in a labelled container, save the assembly manual and photograph connections before taking them apart. That means fewer missing parts and fewer questions when fall comes around.

Takedown and storage are separate needs. If you also want cleaning, repairs, transport or storage, confirm those arrangements and their cost before booking.
